Tesla CEO Elon Musk showed off an unexpected new passenger van, the Robovan, at the “We, Robots” event. It has a unique train engine shape and can carry up to 20 people or be used for cargo transport. Musk said Robovan will solve the problem of high density and provide autonomous driving services for the Tesla network.
Tesla has hinted at the van’s development before, listing it as a pending development in the master plan as well. Despite his disdain for public transportation, Musk seems to be pouring resources into the vehicle.
Musk also revealed that next year in Texas and California, Tesla hopes to launch fully unsupervised FSD autopilot, and in 2026 to scale up fully unsupervised FSD autopilot in vehicles such as Cybercab and Model 3. He believes autonomous driving will eventually outperform humans and be safer.
In addition, for the first time, Tesla unveiled the Robovan, which can carry more than 20 people and transport goods. At the same time, Musk also announced the latest progress of the humanoid robot Optimus, these robots can do housework, child care, dog walking and so on, the cost may be significantly reduced.
